Manufacturing Engineer

This is an extremely unique opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and improve production operations to support an exciting growth opportunity for our company. This position is hands-on and requires a significant amount of time on the manufacturing floor working collaboratively with operators, supervisors, and managers. The Manufacturing Engineer will also serve as a key link between Sales/Applications Engineering and Production, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. This is a high visibility position that is central to supporting a culture of continuous improvement through employee engagement.

Requirements:

  • Lead and support improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance across manufacturing operations.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams at all levels to develop and implement new products, processes, and continuous improvement strategies.

  • Work directly and collaboratively with operators and leadership to design, develop, and implement equipment improvements that enhance performance and reliability.

  • Support Operations by developing and sustaining training materials and methods to ensure process continuity, standardization, and knowledge retention.

  • Ensure smooth project implementation and transition to Operations, maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and long-term sustainability.

  • Manage capital projects from concept to completion, including research, cost-benefit analysis, proposal development, scheduling, change management, training, and handover.

  • Spend a significant hands-on time on the manufacturing floor, working collaboratively with operators, leads, supervisors, and managers responsible for the area.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical production issues using root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.

  • Provide daily support for sustaining and improving manufacturing systems, including PLCs, drives, monitoring software, mechanical equipment, tooling, and spare parts.

  • Apply design and fabrication skills to enhance electrical, mechanical, and production processes with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Proactively identify and assess electrical and mechanical risks or improvement opportunities within manufacturing processes, and lead the development and implementation of effective, sustainable solutions in partnership with the production team.

  • Analyze and optimize existing manufacturing systems and technologies to reduce costs, improve sustainability, and increase capacity of constrained assets.

  • Support new product development by evaluating manufacturing feasibility and leading industrialization efforts.

  • Establish and maintain best practices and training resources to ensure process and equipment safety, capability, and reliability.

  • Promote and support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), with a focus on predictive maintenance strategies.

  • Lead and coordinate internal and external resources for project execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.

  • Act as a key liaison between Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to drive design-for-manufacturing improvements and continuous innovation.

Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Understanding of basic Manufacturing Engineering concepts such as electrical and mechanical machine design, installation, integration, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with 3D CAD software for fixture development.

  • Excellent communication skills with people in all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work flexible hours at times to accommodate 3rd shift operation.

  • Action oriented, hands-on person who is excited to solve problems and continuously improve the production environment.
